ABOUT US

Every mission starts somewhere. Ours started at home—protecting the people we love most.

  • Crunchyverse didn’t begin as a brand. It began as a personal mission inside our family home.

One day, a firefighter magazine arrived in the mail, and an article stopped me cold: firefighting is a carcinogenic profession. As the spouse of a dedicated fire captain, I couldn’t believe I didn’t know. How had I missed this?

I couldn’t control the toxic exposures my husband faced at work —
but I could control what he came home to.

I realized I could create a haven of safety within our own walls, starting with the products we used most — the ones that came into daily contact with him and lingered in the spaces where our three children lived and played. It was the first time I saw how much of our “normal” home environment was actually shaped by a world that treats toxins as acceptable, even in “negligible” amounts.

I didn’t want that world deciding what happened inside my home.

At the same time, our family’s allergies and growing skin sensitivities were getting harder to ignore. Lotions, soaps, detergents — even the so-called “natural” ones — still left us with concerns. So I started digging. The “safe” cleaners didn’t live up to their promises. The truly clean ones either underperformed or came with price tags that didn’t fit a busy family of five. It felt like an impossible choice: protect our health or stay within budget.

    That’s when I got serious.

I spent countless hours researching, mixing, and testing — driven by a simple belief:
clean living shouldn’t force families to choose between non-toxic, effective, and affordable.
    We deserve all three.

I wasn’t trying to reinvent the wheel. I just wanted to make everyday products that actually worked and felt good to use — without triggering our skin, our worries, or our wallets. Like so many families, we were doing the best we could with what we had. But the more I learned, the more determined I became to build something better.

    A home that didn’t compromise.
A home that felt truly clean — not just “clean enough.”
A home shaped by intention, not by whatever the industry decided was acceptable.

I began replacing every product I could, creating gentler, effective formulas that wouldn’t inflame our skin or compromise our health. Because it matters. Because I didn’t want shortcuts. Because I felt I had no other option.

At first, these solutions were just for us. But soon, friends and family started asking: “Can you share that recipe?” and “Where can I find this?” I realized I wasn’t alone — so many of us felt stuck between marketing claims and real-life performance, between protecting our health and staying on budget. The options just didn’t make it easy.

The more we talked, the clearer it became: something had to change.

That’s how Crunchyverse was born — a grounded, little crunchy universe for clean living and conscious care.
A place for families who want a home that’s truly clean, truly safe, and truly theirs.
A place for people who don’t want to compromise.
A place built on the simple belief that clean should mean clean —
    non-toxic, effective, and affordable.

Because no one should have to choose between what works and what’s safe.

  • The name Crunchyverse started—believe it or not—with a laugh.

My husband jokingly called my early homemade soaps and detergents “crunchy”—a light, slightly teasing label for my DIY, make-it-yourself approach to healthier living. It stuck mostly because it felt true: simple, natural, and a little unconventional.

But what does “crunchy” even mean?

Today, it’s modern slang for people who lean into natural living—think sourdough starters, essential oil diffusers, mason jars, wool dryer balls, and Birkenstocks on standby. Once used to poke fun at granola-makers and earth-lovers, “crunchy” is now worn proudly by anyone who cares about what goes in, on, and around their bodies.

The label landed for me the day I gifted a close friend a water filter and she laughed, “Now I’m a crunchy mom like you!”
At first, I pushed back. I’m not that crunchy for wanting clean water and soap that doesn’t give me cancer, I thought.
But the more I reflected, the more I found humor in it—and ultimately, pride.
If wanting safe, effective, non-toxic solutions made me crunchy… then I was all in.

So I embraced the label. Not because it’s trendy, but because it connects me with others who quietly prioritize well-being over convenience or convention. What started as a joke became a shared language for people who want healthier homes—and are willing to roll up their sleeves, learn a little, and laugh a little along the way.

Now I’m sharing the tools and recipes that helped our family thrive—through Crunchyverse and the work that continues to unfold. My hope is to empower you to reclaim your home from harmful chemicals and create a space that truly supports your well-being.

Because your family’s health is worth it.
And because a better home often starts with one small, “okay, maybe I am that crunchy” moment.

  • At the center is the Avena sativa plant — a simple oat plant that reflects our roots in natural, practical living. Oats are steady, adaptable, and widely used in everyday life. For us, it represents grounded strength and the kind of thoughtful choices made in real homes.

Encircling the plant is a subtle orbit line. It nods to the “verse” in Crunchyverse — the idea that every home is its own small universe, shaped by the decisions made within it. The stars add a quiet sense of clarity and direction.

Together, the plant and the orbit balance two ideas: grounded and expansive. Practical and intentional. Nature and forward movement.

That’s the heart of Crunchyverse — a clean, capable way of living that starts small and builds outward.
